Justice for Slain British Film Maker Richard Foster
posted (August 13, 2018)

Last week Friday, you heard Deputy Police Commissioner Chester Williams say that police investigators were hot on the trail of the men who they believe brutally killed the 74 year-old British Filmmaker, Richard Foster.

Well police have charged 3 men for his murder. There is also a fourth man who is facing burglary charges for breaking into Foster's home. We will tell you all about him a little later. But first, here's what police had to say this afternoon at their bi-weekly press conference about the 3 men who they believe were Foster's attackers:

ACP Joseph Myvette - Head, NCIB
"The Richard Foster's murder police has since arrested and charged Andrew Clarke 31 years and Derwin Jones 26 years both for the crime of murder and abetment to murder. There's one more person in custody on Edmond Pascacio who will be charged later today in respect to that same murder."

This evening, 26 year-old Derwin Lincoln Jones, 29 year-old Andrew Robert Clarke, and 22 year-old Edmond Anthony Pascasio were all arraigned before Chief Magistrate Sharon Frazer. As you heard, they are all jointly charged with the murder of Richard Foster. It is a capital offense so they were not eligible for bail. They were remanded to the Belize Central Prison until October 3rd.

And in the morning, police marched 19 year old Mahogany Heights resident Benyahti Brandon, in front of the Magistrate's court. He was charged with burglary for the break-in at Foster's home at mile 29 on the George Price Highway.

Police say that a resident of La Democracia reported that on last Tuesday, August 7th, the day when everyone realized that Richard Foster was missing, his wife, Carol, called and asked that someone go check on him. This La Democracia resident told police that he went there, and that's when he realized that neither Foster nor his vehicle were at his house. This friend of the Foster couple spotted that their front door was open, which was very unusual, since he wasn't around. He also then realized that Foster's pellet guns were at the entrance of the house, while Foster's 9mm pistol, and his 12-gauge pump shotgun were missing.

Police investigated the report, and they detained Brandon, who allegedly gave a caution statement admitting that he was one of the burglars at Foster's home. He was arraigned before Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford, where he pleaded not guilty to the offense. He was released on bail of $4,000, and he must return to court on October 25th.

As we told you, Foster's body was found at around 8 o'clock on last Tuesday night in the Rivera Area of Belmopan. He suffered multiple stab wounds to the body, and injuries to the head. Hours earlier, there was concern that he suddenly went missing along with his firearms, and his vehicle. While police were combing the scene at his guest house, they received information this missing pickup truck was found abandoned in Mahogany Heights Village.
