Also, our headline story for last week Friday’s newscast was the fatal stabbing of 33 year-old Roxanne Pop. She was killed by her ex-common-law husband in what appears to be a fit of jealous rage, and tonight, he’s at the Belize Central Prison.
As we told you, he’s 44 year-old Noewelin Williams, a construction worker from Sand Hill Village, and he was arraigned today before Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford. Again, since he is charged with murder, no plea was taken from him, and he was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until October 22nd.
As we reported, at around 7 p.m. on last week Tuesday, Pop and Williams were at the Boulevard Plaza on Central American Boulevard. They had just ordered food, and Pop’s family says that this was not a couple’s outing. Williams invited her out to have a conversation, in which he was attempting to convince her to get back with him.
Pop allegedly experienced years of domestic abuse as Williams’ common-law, and so she refused him. Reports are that he did not take too kindly to her refusal, and the conversation escalated to violence when Williams pulled a knife and stabbed Pop about 8 times to the neck and abdomen. She died shortly after that.
