Women at War
posted (August 15, 2018)

Two cousins, 18 year-old Tanisha Bainton, a UB student, and 25 year-old Crystal James, landed in the Magistrates Court today for allegedly ganging up on another woman and putting a beatdown on her.

The complainant, Rita Davis, reported to police that on July 27, Bainton and James jumped her in Ladyville. The women reportedly punched her several times, and when she fell to the ground, one of them grabbed and empty pint bottle clubbed her over the head with it. She was taken to the hospital and the on-duty doctor classified her injuries as wounding.

Police investigated Davis report, and they eventually charged Bainton and James with wounding and aggravated assault. They were arraigned today before Chief Magistrate Sharon Frazer, where they pleaded not guilty to the offenses. They were released on bail of $1,000 each, and they must return to court on October 10.
