Police Hold off on Charges for Killer Nephew
posted (August 16, 2018)

Last night, we took you to El Progresso where 42 year-old Israel Tesecum, a man suffering from disabilities, was fatally chopped by his 25 year-old nephew, Bartemio Tesecum. Tesecum chopped him for no apparent reason.

Its a disturbing case of family on family killing, but worse than that is that other members of the Tesecum family were forced to look on in horror as the attack happened in their presence. Because of the suddenness with which it took place, they were powerless to stop it.

Its a senseless crime that has no easily understandable explanation, but police are trying to put the pieces together in an attempt to bring Bartemio Tesecum to justice.

Today, the press asked police to share what information they can on the incident, and here’s what they had to say:

ACP Joseph Myvette - Head, NCIB
"On Tuesday, the 14th of August, shortly after 9 AM, police responded to an information of a chopping incident in El Progresso Village, in the Cayo District, which is on the Mountain Pine Ridge, where upon arrival, they observed a male person, later identified as Israel Tezecum, 42 years-old, with a large chop wound behind the neck. As a result, he was transported to the San Ignacio Community Hospital, and later to the Western Regional Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries, whilst undergoing treament. Our initial investigation reveal that the deceased was along with other  family members having a meal inside the family home, when he was approached by his nephew, one Bartimeus Tesecum, who entered the house with a machete and inflicted the said injuries, after which, he made good his escape. A search was conducted in the entire area, and sometime, late yesterday evening, he was captured, and is now in police custody, pending further investigation and possibly charges."

Reporter
"Could you say whether part of that investigation will include a psychiatric evaluation of that suspect?"

ACP Joseph Myvette
"I believe that may be the case, hence the reason that charges have not been proffered."

As you heard, police want to find out whether or not Bartemio Tesecum suffers from any mental illnesses. Thats the reason why he hasn’t been formally charged with the offense of murder just yet.
