Bella Vista Showdown Between Cop and Club Goers
posted (August 16, 2018)

And while the cops are looking for those 3 culprits from that home invasion in Ladyville, they are investigating 2 of their own from the south who are attached to the Bella Vista Police Substation.

On last Sunday, at around 1 a.m., the two officers were working inside a night club in the village when they got into a confrontation with several of the club’s patrons who were allegedly behaving disorderly. The cops were attempting to keep the peace, but according to these patrons, the officers went too far, and allegedly put a beatdown on them.

Today, the Head of the National Criminal Investigations Branch told the press that an internal investigation is underway to determine if the complaints against them by the civilians has merit or not. Here’s what he had to say about the case:

ACP Joseph Myvette - Head, NCIB
"The police received reports from officers working at a nightclub in Bella Vista that shortly after 1 o'clock on Sunday, August 12th, there was an altercation inside the nightclub, which resulted in 2 uniformed officers, who were working at the establishment, attempted to detain one of the suspects. And in the process, he was approached by several other persons who were within the nightclub, including a female, who eventually threw beer on one of the officers. Several persons have since been arrested and charged. A report was made to the Professional Standards branch by those affected and an ongoing investigation it in progress at this time, in relation to the incident."

"By chance, any footage to corroborate the officers' version.

ACP Joseph Myvette
"Yes, some footage was obtained, and that is in the possession of the Professional Standards Branch. At the end of the investigation, it will determine whether or not any disciplinary or criminal charges will be proffered against those officers."

Reporter
"Are you able to share any details as to what the person accusing the officers of brutality are saying?"

ACP Joseph Myvette
"The statements are saying that the officers over-reacted in some instances, in order to prevent those who were being detained."

The 3 civilians have already been criminally charged by the officers for alleged misbehaviour.
