No Leads in Xaibe Hit and Run Case
posted (August 16, 2018)

Earlier this week, we told you about the accident in the Corozal district which claimed the life of Virgilio Mena, a resident of Xaibe Village.

It happened on Sunday night between miles 74 and 75, and the cops don’t know much about what happened on the road. They found his body severely injured, and nearby, his wrecked bicycle was also discovered. It has all the signs of a hit and run, and that’s causing investigators some difficulty, since no witnesses have come forward with information that they can pursue as leads.

Today, the Head of the National Criminal Investigation’s Branch told the press today, that they are hoping that the community will help them to solve Mena’s case:

ACP Joseph Myvette
"So far, we do not have any concrete information. We are still following leads, and are urging the public's cooperation in coming forward with whatever information they may have, in order for us to solve this case."

Reporter
"The area itself, sir, where this happened, does it lend itself to the opposability that witnesses were in the area when this gentleman was injured?"

ACP Joseph Myvette
"It could have been, but when the police got on the scene, there were no witnesses. There is a bus stop not too far from where the incident had occurred."
