Rotary Gift of Life from Belize teamed up this weekend with the Gift of Life organization out of Florida to provide 96 Belizean patients with medical consultations.
We’re told that it was a very long weekend for the visiting medical practictioners, Dr. Elisa Suh, and Dr. Daniel McKenna, who are based in Tampa, Florida.
And of those 96 patients, 4 of them were able to get medical attention not normally available in Belize. The doctors teamed up with KHMH for the use of their Cath Lab, and 2 of those patients were able to be properly diagnosed.
The other 2 actually got corrective medical procedures performed on them, which would have normally been done through open heart surgery. Yvette Burke from Gift of Life tells us that having these procedures done here saves a lot of money, which would have been needed to send the patients abroad.
She adds that the plan is to team up with KHMH and Gift of Life Florida to provide Belizeans with clinics and repairs every 6 months, instead of only offering clinics.
