OW Braces For A Gangster’s Funeral
posted (August 21, 2018)
Tomorrow security will be high in Orange Walk as the town prepares for the funeral of slain gang figure Juniour Triminio. The 34 year old was killed along with an affiliate, 19 year old student, Enrique Calderon in a dramatic and terrifying street execution on Sunday evening in Orange Walk Town. It happened across the street from a kids football tournament and has shaken town residents.

Footage circulated on social media shows that the 34 year old will be buried in a gangster's coffin, full blue to reflect his gang affiliation - of which, the coffin describes him as a general.

Many Orange Walkenos may shake their heads at the sight of that, not knowing how to contextualize such symbols - since these are Belize City gang affiliations imported into that Northern town.

Yesterday we asked Orange Walk East area representative and Minister of State for police, Elodio Aragon if police are aware what tensions between criminal networks are fueling this violence:

Reporter
"Does the security operatus comprehend the forces that is driving this type of narco-violence, that information suggest it related to drug gangs or drug turf or shipments and who has thing for who? That sort of thing."

Hon. Elodio Aragon - Minister of State, National Security
"Well of course the police department is not a department that is inept. It is a department that has its intelligence arm, it has its investigative arm, it has its forensic arm. It is a department that is well connected in terms of doing the police work."

"We could stay here all day talking about this and that. The realty is vivid, in terms of what transpired yesterday. The challenge now is for the police department to act upon these things and deal with it and I will tell you there is a lot of information out there. The police has a lot of information, but these things cannot be revealed to the public. They have to be played and work upon."

Police have no suspects at this time. The killers appeared to be professional hitmen who emerged from a Jeep Patriot wearing masks and pursued Trimino as he fled into a nearby house, shooting through the closed door to finish the job.

Police recovered 16 rounds from the scene and both men were shot six times.

7News has received information that police will launch a joint special operation in Orange Walk Town tomorrow to ensure public safety during the funeral. They are expected to deploy the GSU, the SPU, the MIT and a security task force to operate checkpoints at all entry points to the town, and to blanket the route of the funeral.
