Shyne Comes Thru With Corporate Cash For Collective
posted (August 21, 2018)
At the top of news, we showed you our interview with Music Ambassador Shyne Barrow, who was discussing his disapproval of the new NICH President. That opportunity to speak with Shyne presented itself when he, and representatives from BTL and BTB hosted a joint press conference to announce that they've raised $30,000 to donate to the Garifuna Collective.

Two months ago, the Music Ambassador and the Garifuna Collective announced that the group was selected to perform at WOMEX, the World Music Expo which will be held in the last week of October in Spain.

WOMEX is the apex event for world music and the selection process for any band or performer is rigorous. The last time that a Belizean performed there was back in 2007, when Andy Palacio won a WOMEX Award along with Ivan Duran for the Watina Album.

So, it's a mark of great distinction for the Collective to be selected, but getting to Spain isn't cheap. The Music Ambassador has teamed up with BTL and BTB to cover some of the total costs.

Here's what the ambassador and the representatives had to say about the origin of these funds which are being allocated to this WOMEX trip:

The Collective is still trying to find the rest of the funds they will need to cover the total cost of this trip to Spain.
