Police from the MIT, the SPU and the GSU are in Orange Walk tonight to keep the town on lockdown after Sunday's daylight double murder.
The cops fanned out into the streets this afternoon to ensure that there was no incident during the funeral of Junior Tremenio - who was buried in a coffin signifying his gang affiliation.
The funeral passed without incident and - much to the relief of Orange Walk residents - he has been buried. Police must now maintain that presence to contain any retaliation, since Treminio was killed by a rival gang.
But that wasn't the only funeral Orange Walk saw today. No police had to be deployed for the funeral of Mariela Alpuche - the 34 year old Trial Farm resident and mother of two girls - who was killed by her 48 year old husband, Arturo Rodriguez. He killed her in an Independence village hotel - reportedly in an act of jealousy.
