He's known to police as a gang figure, and Nicoli Rhys will spend three years in prison - while he is pending trial for murder.
Chief Magistrate Sharon Fraser today sentenced the 27 year old to 3 years for kept firearm and ammunition without a gun license.
This dates back to May of 2015 when police say Rhys ran from them and tripped over a cement block. That's when a loaded nine millimeter pistol fell from the waist of his pants.
In his defence, Rhys denied that he was at the scene. He said that he was in Belmopan at the time and that the police made up the entire incident. But in giving her decision Chief Magistrate Fraser said that she found it hard to believe that the police would make up a story like that without any reason and Rhys has not given a reason why they would.
