Courtney Weatherburne reporting
Blood stained gravel and stray pieces of caution tape were all that was left on the scene of the Farmers Road murder in the Valley of Peace Area.

The murder victim is 24 year old Roshane Jones. He was shot to the face and information is that he was also badly beaten before he was executed.

This afternoon Jones' relatives were in the area carefully scavenging for clues, anything that could give them a better sense of their loved one's gruesome END. But they found nothing. Police were on the scene this morning around 8:00, also searching and processing the scene.

Sr. Supt. Linden Flowers, Western Regional Commander, Police
"Belmopan and Roaring Creek police along with detectives and scenes of crime personnel dispatched to the area where they found the lifeless body of Roshane Bevans Jones of a Camalote address."

It is not clear if Jones went to Farmers Road with friends and was ambushed, or if he was taken by force to his death. When we spoke to his mom she said all she knows is that he left from a friend's house last night and he never returned.

Carol Bevans, Mother
"He told me that he was with Bigs and I called Bigs immediately and I say Bigs what is my son doing with you? And he said ma'am Roshane and I are working. He is my neighbor and I don't know him as a bad person or a violent person or anything. I don't know Andre like that. I don't know what happened. He says Roshane was with him and Roshane told him that he was going out last night. Because Roshane was staying in Belmopan at his mother's house for weeks. Bigs says that Roshane told him that he was going to hang out with some of his friends. I ask Bigs if he doesn't know who are Roshane's friends he was hanging out with? He says he doesn't know."

Now Jones has had his run-ins with the law. His mom says he has spent most of his life in jail for burglary offenses - one as recent as a couple months ago but she doesn't believe his murder had to do with his thievery.

Carol Bevans, Mother
"The only person he ever told me in all his life that did him something was a young man by the name of Nellie. He says that the man pulled a machete and ran him when he was found burglarizing a house. But otherwise he didn't have a problem with anyone. He is not a problem person. I know he likes to steal, but he is not violent."

Courtney Weatherburne, reporter
"Did the police, for that case, brought him?"

Carol Bevans, Mother
"Yes, he was supposed to go to court in September."

Courtney Weatherburne, reporter
"So you think that may be the caused they targeted him?"

Carol Bevans, Mother
"No, I don't believe that. I believe it's something else, because the people did not do him anything and it wasn't a threat to him like that, because he would have said something, but no. This is something else. I believe something went down with him. Maybe he saw something. Maybe he took something. Maybe he said something that he say, because he way they killed Roshane, it's something."

There are no concrete answers as to what could have led to Jones' brutal murder, so for now, the family just has to find a way to cope with this loss - and one way to do that is by covering his blood - a painful reminder of his death.

Carol Bevans, Mother
"He was one of my sweetest sons. If I am at home washing, he would hang out the clothes. If I am picking in the clothes, he would pick in and fold with me. I could have put him to do anything and he would willingly do it. He never answered me back and he never cursed me. He was sweet. I can't say anything bad about my son, because he was not bad to me at all."

Police believe that Jones was killed sometime at 9:00 last night. If you have any information about Jones' murder you can call Sr. Supt. Flowers at 605-0407.
