For years, we've reported on the sargassum along Belize's coast in the islands, but today, those passing the swing bridge saw a whole lot coming in form the sea and floating into the mouth of the Haulover Creek. Large threads of it flowed past the swing bridge heading down-river. Boatmen say that they were able to just steer past it.
Massive rafts of sargassum can be seen floating all along the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula.
