Electricity Production Was Way Up In Second Quarter
posted (August 29, 2018)
And a large part of that strong growth in this year's second quarter was the performance of the secondary and tertiary sectors, namely manufacturing and services. Here are some secondary sector highlights:..

Angelita Campbell, Statistician II
"The secondary industry, which accounts for almost 1/5 of Belize's total economy, increased by 13.4% or 12.4%. Within that sector we have the manufacturing and mining going down by 2.5% or $1.3 million. We have sugar production going up by 6.6%, we have beverages going up by 12.5%, we also have flour going up by 4%- and that is due to market demand- but these increases were offset by a major drop in citrus concentrate production of 36%. Petroleum also went down by 19.2%. We have electricity going up by 38.2% or $13.1 million and that can be seen in the increase in electricity production of 45.6% and water production by just 1%. As stated before, beverage increased by 12.5%. Contributing to that are higher increase in production for soft drinks at 16.4% and beers at 9.9%, all due to market demands."
