We also asked the Mayor about the imminent transfer of long time Traffic Manager for the City Kevon Jenkins. Jenkins has been Traffic Manager for over 10 years - and rose up through the ranks of the Traffic Department over 23 years.
But, now, quite suddenly, he's being moved over to the Sanitation Department - to be the manager there.
The mayor said it is all part of an internal restructuring:..
Bernard Wagner, Belize City Mayor
"But nobody didn't say when you get employed at a position you will stay there for your entire life. He has been there 13 years. His transfer is part of a greater process that we are doing, restructuring and he falls within that. Nobody tell you when you work at an organization that you will be at a position for your entire life. You always have the opportunity for upward mobility. Listen, Kevon still has his job. He is moving in a lateral position as a manager. He was a manager before. He continues to be a manager. I am saying listen, this is an opportunity for him to look at sanitation."
Word is that the present Sanitation Manager, who is a staunch UDP, will be let go.
