As we told you last week, the City Council's Director of Finance Marilyn Ordonez resigned. That's the second senior employee to leave the City Council since they were elected in March. City Administrator Candice Miller was fired in May but Deputy Mayor Oscar Arnold says Ordonez's resignation is a whole other matter. Arnold says Ordonez resigned on her own free will and according to him, it had nothing to do with any office tensions between Ordonez and the Mayor, or anyone else for that matter. Ordonez was a valued member of the team. Here is how he out it.

"The Director of Finance was also the acting City Admin. for a few months then we had a City Admin that was appointed and so the Director of Finance Mrs. Ordonez went on leave for a couple weeks and then when she came back she had a sit down with Mayor Wagner and basically she handed in her resignation for no other reason than her personal reason so I wish her all the best."
"We are sorry to see her leave, this time we are going through the budgetary exercises for the next year and the Director of Finances is a big part of that but there are other technical people at the city council that are aware of that situation and have been around completing that exercise so we will do the best without her."

"So you are saying that the situation as regards to the City Admin has nothing to do with the Director of Finances' situation."

"As far as I know, not to my knowledge, no, it could possibly be I don't know at this time but I have had a good working relationship with Ms. Ordonez as the councilor in charge of budgeting, I had to sit in meetings and we have had to work and partner together on several initiatives and I had no indication there was any trouble brewing."
Arnold says they are looking for someone within or outside the council to fill the Director of Finance post.
