Cops Focussed on Southside, Robbers Focussed On North
posted (September 7, 2018)
It's frustrating for police who have hot zones in the southside under a state of emergency - but they can't be everywhere. And this broad daylight, big money robbery of a top shelf liquor store in the King's Park area is a definite black eye for the security forces.

Today, we could detect some level of frustration in acting COMPOL Chester Williams - who said the state of emergency focusses on the southside:..

DCP Chester Williams, Acting Commissioner of Police
"The emergency zone operations are only in 2 areas of south side Belize City. We are not going to be naive to believe that having that emergency zone operation in those 2 areas will totally eradicate crime within Belize City or any way in the country. Crime will always occur and these operations are geared at minimizing gang activities within those 2 particular zones and other part of the city."

Reporter
"Any comments on this, the recent robbery, do you know any details relating to it?"

DCP Chester Williams, Acting Commissioner of Police
"I know yes that the robbery did occur. In terms of what was stolen, I have not been briefed on that. The investigators are still working with the proprietors of the establishment to establish exactly what was taken."
