Kendis Killer on the Run
posted (September 11, 2018)
A high profile suspect escaped from police custody. He is 25 year old Kevin Bodden. But let's begin the story from his detention. After 6 months of searching, police finally caught him on Sunday. Bodden was charged with murder, attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm and wounding in connection to the mid-march killing of Ghost Town gang boss Kendis Flowers. But the joy of capturing him was short lived when he slipped away from police yesterday morning. Police told us more about this major slip up.

ASP Alejandro Cowo, OC, CIB
"I know Sunday Mr. Kevin Bodden who was wanted for the murder of Kendis Flowers which occurred in March was detained and charged. However early Monday morning he escaped from the cell block from precinct 3."

Jules Vasquez, reporter
"Under what circumstances did he escape?"

ASP Alejandro Cowo, OC, CIB
"What we know is that he had asked to use the restroom and while being taken to the restroom that is when he made good his escape."

Jules Vasquez
"Is this a subject of frustration for you all, you all worked so many months to capture him."

ASP Alejandro Cowo, OC, CIB
"Yes it is, we have an internal investigation that will be dealing with his escape."

"There are procedures that an officer must follow whenever dealing with a prisoner probably there was a breakdown in procedure hence the reason why he escaped from police custody."

Jules Vasquez
"Sir but can you speak about his arrest and charge. We know that this Flowers murder has been one of the most sensational murders in the city this year. We know that there are many in the community in that area who continue to blame the police for his murder, wrongly, I am saying that what led to his ultimate arrest finally on Sunday or charging on Sunday."

ASP Alejandro Cowo, OC, CIB
"Well, the police has, since the murder, since we knew he was one of the suspects, the police has been looking for him. We had issued wanted posters countrywide and fortunately that day he was seen in Belize City that day and he was detained by police here in Belize City."

So again, if you see Kevin Bodden kindly inform the authorities. He was barefooted and dressed in a Grey t-Shirt and long blue jeans pants when he escaped.

Now as you all will remember, some residents from Flowers' Mayflower Street neighborhood were convinced that police had something to do with his murder. The police proved otherwise but the residents didn't want to hear that. And it didn't end there. You all will remember the images of the police descending on Flowers' yard after his family and friends had let off a gun salute at his funeral. The police have been trying to mend their relationship with the residents since then.
