Infotel Rebrandning For Bigger Opportunities
posted (September 14, 2018)
Infotel is a call center in Belize City that has been in business for 12 years. And while Call Centers are everywhere and they are hardly news anymore, Infotel has been experiencing rapid growth - and today held a ceremony to announce it's re-branding. John Malic told us what he feels is their difference:...

John Malic, Voyse (formerly Infotel)
"If you look at the tagline of our new logo its Voyse - people and technology. For us the brand represents that connection between the customer and the client and using their voice to make that connection. That's how we arrive at the new brand "Voyse." But more importantly our strategic direction for the next 5 years, we needed a refresh brand. We needed something new for our organization and that how we wanted a brand new look for the company. When we opened our doors 11 years ago under the name InfoTel, it was with 30 employees. So just for like some perspective 30 employees 11 years ago and today we have 420 employees and we also wanted a new brand to go into the future because our growth rate is forecasted to be an additional 20% growth each year over the next 5 years which is a total of about 200-300 more employment jobs here in the company."

"What sets you guys apart?"

John Malic, Voyse (formerly Infotel)
"Definitely with the way we focused a lot on people, a lot on the employee experience, because if employees are having a great experience then of course the customers on the phone have a great experience as well. We focused a lot on employee benefits and a lot on retention. The majority of our staff on average the ones that have been here for a really long time - there are looking at tenures for about 3,4,5 years. Some people even as much as 10 years."

"We came here in 2015, at that time it was another Malic, Reynaldo Malic who through tears explained his love and his commitment to this company. What happened to that incarnation of the company which was at the time a bog expansion to I think 150 employees? Is this now a name change indicating that you all have change direction or change ownership structure - that type of thing?"

John Malic, Voyse (formerly Infotel)
"Ownership structure has not changed. What has changed is the direction in which the company is going. If you look at our old logo, we were focused a lot on the technology and we wanted our brand to represent really where the focus starts. Its not with the technology. It starts with the people."

Reporter
"Okay, so but those personalities that we met in 2015 are no longer associated with the company?"

John Malic, Voyse (formerly Infotel)
"That is correct. Mr. Malic is no longer affiliated with our organization. Of course we owe him everything that he gave to the organization during his tenure and we are moving into a new direction from a strategic perspective."

But what does Infotel do? Other than just have 400 people answering phones? Turns out they do much more - they offer credit in the United States. Malic explained:...

John Malic, Voyse (formerly Infotel)
"We are a FinTec company, which is short for financial technology and so we are mostly in the business of processing loans and also any type of customer service that is associated with that. All of our customers are US based customers and we do the processing of those loans here in Belize."

Reporter
"What really is the comparative advantage for Belize?"

John Malic, Voyse (formerly Infotel)
"The comparative advantage starts with location. A lot of these business is about near shoring and how close you are as far as location is concerned to the US and the clients we served are US based and so their ability to come to Belize on a 2 hour flight and get here really quickly and be able to go back home to continue their business operations is important and of course English is one of our main tools that have helped Belize as a whole to position itself as a strong BPO provider. I think if you look at the history of BPOs in Belize starting around like 2005. The growth that has happened since then in the industry is exponential, but that's only because we have one very valuable thing - we have a really good English which is our biggest selling point."

Infotel is located across from BTL Park. Employees must have a high school diploma.
