NICH External Auditor Frowns At Internal Auditor
posted (September 17, 2018)
Tonight we have some breaking news from the NICH external audit. As we have reported, the internal auditor, Roberto Matus raised many concerns about the financial goings-on at NICH during his review.

Cabinet put the President on Administrative leave pending the review by external auditor, Chartered Accountant Mark Hulse, from the accounting firm of Baker Tilly Hulse.

7News has received the draft conclusion sent to the board - and it is not kind to Matus. It says, quote, "In our opinion sufficient due diligence was not applied by the internal auditor in establishing reasonableness and completeness of occurrences and transaction. In establishing reasonableness and completeness of occurrences and transaction, additional audit procedures would have sufficiently mitigated and/or clarified the observations and findings reported." End quote.

It's dense language, but basically it means that the external auditor feels the internal auditor - who is not a CPA - did not do a sufficiently thorough job - and if he did what he calls questionable transactions or treatments would have been cleared up.

The Board is waiting on the final draft.
