Cops Speak On Pellet Gun Used In Robbery
posted (September 17, 2018)
Two Belize City minors were arraigned in Belmopan court today. This is after they were caught with the proceeds from a robbery last week Thursday in the Capital City. As we reported, the boys, one 15, the other 16 years old held up Taisan store on Garza Street with a pellet gun. They snatched $600 and took off.

Today we asked police if they went to Belmopan with robbery on their mind:..

ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch
"Quick police into this investigation led to the detention of two 16 year old minors from Belize City who have since been arrested and charged for the crime of robbery. Some monies were recovered along with liquors, cigarettes and a handgun which is a pellet gun that was suspected to have been used in the commission of the crime."

"Is it your belief that these minors travelled from Saint Martin's area of Belize City where they live and all the way to Belmopan for the purpose of the commission of a robbery?"

ACP Joseph Myvett
"Well we have not been able to establish that other than to say that they are both from Belize City-one is from Evergreen Street while the other is from Santa Barbara Street."

Reporter
"Speak about the firearm - these things look very real and is it a concern of yours, I can go to A and R right now, or a child really can go to A and R right now and buy one of these. Its a recreational sports gun. Is it a concern of yours that these firearms which can harm and look extremely real, are widely available to anyone?"

ACP Joseph Myvett
"Yes, it is a concern to us."
