Planting Trees On Service Day
posted (September 19, 2018)
But the celebration didn't end at the cemetery. PUP Party leader John Briceno and his team went to Dolphin Park in the Caribbean Shores area to plant mahogany trees and feed residents in George Price's honor. Caribbean Shores area rep. Kareem Musa also told us about his Save Dolphin Park initiative and how it is connected to the National Service Day observance.

Hon. Johnny Briceno- Party Leader, PUP
"On this day we take time to reflect on the work that Mr. Price did for us. That he served this country unselfishly and that he can always be that example of what people expect of their leaders; a person that is humble, a person that is caring, a person that loves and genuinely wants to serve the people. This is one day that we can take this opportunity, the very day that he left us, to take that time out, do some reflection and at the same time do some kind of activity to try to honor the life of Mr. Price. In the Port Loyola area we are doing some work. We are doing work in San Ignacio, in Benque, in Belmopan, Orange Walk, all across the country, all of us in the party we have taken time out to do some kind of community work."

Hon. Kareem Musa - Caribbean Shoes Area Rep.
"As part of the initiative to save Dolphin Park today we are celebrating national service day here at 2 pm. As part of the celebrations we will be serving food to 150 employees of the sanitation staff at the Belize City Council to show them our appreciation because they are the ones out there on the field day in and day out, sacrificing in this boiling heat, as you can feel. So, it is important that we as politicians and as the area representative, we acknowledge their efforts and show our appreciation to them. So, we are feeding them at 2pm and thereafter we are going to do painting of park benches and we are going to be planting some more trees and just have an overall fun afternoon with the sanitation staff."

There were a number of National Service activities throughout the country to honor Price.
