Suspects Held In Pen Road Shooting of Brothers
posted (September 20, 2018)

And there was also a Belize City shooting last night.  It happened during the news at #95 Neal’s Pen Road when two men were shot in front of their yard by a gunman on motorbike.  Police told us more:…

ASP Alejandro Cowo - OC, CIB
"Jermaine Garbutt, a 35 year old Belizean of number 95 B Neal Penn Road; he was suffering from three gunshot wounds—one to the right knee, one to the left knee and one to the left leg. And also seen was Mister Everal Neal, a 40 year old Belizean of that same address, number 95. He was seen with an apparent gunshot wound to the left side of his hip. What police has gathered so far is that both of them were standing in front of their residence when two male persons stopped on a motorcycle and one of the male persons fired a barrage of gunshots causing the injuries to Mister Garbutt and Mister Neal. Both of them are presently admitted in a stable condition."

Jules Vasquez
"Their nephew Wane Lesley was charged earlier in the day for the stabbing at Pear 1. Is this just a coincidence?"

ASP Alejandro Cowo
"Well, yes. Mr. Wane Lesley, a 27 year old Belizean of that same address, 95, was formerly arrested and charged for the stabbing incident that occurred on Pear 1 on the weekend- the Saturday- where Kenan Faber was injured to the left side of his lungs and he was charged with dangerous harm and use of deadly means of harm. Up to now, there is nothing to indicate that that shooting that happened last night has anything to do with the stabbing."

Jules Vasquez
"Is there some kind of ongoing rivalry with 99 Penn Road?"

ASP Alejandro Cowo
"Yes, that is something that we are looking at and that will assist us in this investigation."

Jules Vasquez
"Is this area a continuing source of concern, Neal Penn Road?"

ASP Alejandro Cowo
"Yes, it is an area of concern. Hence the reason that permanent police patrol has been posted in that area since the commencement of the week."

Police have detained two young men from the Jane Usher area. A quick police response caught them minutes later on a motorbike.
