A 30 year old man drank the poisonous herbicide gramaxone - and then urged his 15 year old stepdaughter to do the same.
It happened this morning in Bella vista Village in the Toledo District. Felistino Ash was with his stepdaughter - who had run away from home on Friday the 21st.
She met up with him - and in an act of what can only be called madness, he got her to drink gramaxone with him. Reports say she put it in her mouth and waited until he had gulped down a large amount, to spit it out.
The girl survived, while he died in the room. Police told us more:..

"This morning shortly after 9 am Intermediate Southern Formation Officers were called to Bella Vista Village to an apartment building where upon arrival in one of the apartments they saw the lifeless body of a Mayan decent person later identified as Felistino Ash, 30 years of San Isidro Village. Upon closer examination conducted on the room a pesticide container was found inside the room. His body was removed and transported to the Dangriga Morgue and police investigation into this matter continues. Also, prior to the police arrival a 15 year old female minor was also rushed to the Independence Poly Clinic where she is currently in a stable condition."

"Yes, we do believe so."
Police tell us that the minor - who may have been a victim of child sexual abuse - did not ingest much of the highly toxic herbicide.
