Man Sees Checkpoints, Jumps Off Moving Bus To Death
posted (September 24, 2018)
A man jumped off a moving bus - and ended up dead - all because it appears he wanted to avoid a police checkpoint. Police told us it happened on last week Thursday when the Santander employees' bus was on the Valley of Peace Road. Here's Assistant Commissioner Myvett with more:...

ACP Jospeh Myvett- Head of National Crime Investigations Branch
"On the 20th of September, shortly after 3:30 pm, Belmopan police was conducting a vehicular checkpoint on the Valley of Peace road when a bus approached the checkpoint but shortly before the bus came to a stop a male Hispanic person jumped out of the moving bus through the backdoor. His name was later learnt to be Carlos Jimenez, a 24 years Honduran of a Young Bank address. He was taken to the Western Regional Hospital and later transferred to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he later succumbed to the injuries he received from the accident."

Jules Vasquez-Reporter
"Did he jump from the bus because of the checkpoint?"

ACP Joseph Myvett
"That is what we are told; that he did jump from the bus before reaching the checkpoint."

Police still have not determined his immigration status.
