After Butane Explosion, Grayson Cadle Coming Along
posted (September 25, 2018)
And while little Kelsey's journey is just beginning at Shriners, Grayson Cadle is well into his road to recovery at Doctors Hospital in Augusta Georgia. As you all will remember, Cadle is the 21 year old who was caught in a terrible butane explosion at his Mahogany Street apartment in early July. He was burnt to 70% of his body. Well, he has been at the hospital for 80 days now, and, today, his mom, Marianne Cadle, told us via phone that he is responding very well to treatment. He can open his eyes, speak and now, even take a few steps with help from his therapist. Marianne Cadle gave us an update via telephone.

Marianne Cadle, Mother

Courtney Weatherburne, reporter
"And this is just to remove the burnt skin, the damage skin?"

Marianne Cadle, Mother
"Deep burns, yes."

"Before, he couldn't speak, he could barely move. Tell us about some of his therapy sessions that he's been having?"

Marianne Cadle, Mother
"About 2 weeks ago, Grayson started moving. The therapist they start coming in and working with him, moving his arms, his legs, his neck, his fingers. Last week the therapists they got him up walking, doing that little exercise. Last week, the voice therapist came in to work with his muscles in throat, so that he can be able to start swallowing. But he can talk, he has a voice now."

"Its last week when I visited him in the morning visit, I heard a voice hello mom. Well I had to look around to see if there was a male nurse in the room. He doesn't normally have male nurses, but I had to look to see who it was and I said Grayson is that your voice "hello mommy." I said wow. I was so happy to hear my child say hello mommy and I have him say hi to my sisters, to his aunts back home and they are so elated to hear him say hi auntie, hi little bro, hi family members - I am feeling so grateful."

Grayson will remain at the hospital until he fully recovers.
