Alleged Pen Road Shooter Remanded

22 year-old Steve Crawford, a construction worker of Curl Thompson Street, is on remand at the Belize Central Prison tonight after he was taken to court for a shooting which happened last week.

35 year-old Jermaine Garbutt and 40 year-old Everal Neal reported to police that at around 6:50 p.m. on September 19th, they were sitting on the steps of a house on Neal Penn Road, when they were approached by 2 men riding on a motorcycle. 1 of the men on the motorcycle pulled out a weapon and opened fire on them. Neal was injured to the left side of his hip, while Garbutt suffered gunshots to this left knee, his right knee, and his left leg. They had to be hospitalized for those injuries.

Police have since charged Crawford with 2 counts of attempted murder, 2 counts of dangerous harm, and 2 counts of use of deadly means of harm. He was arraigned today before Magistrate Khadeem Palmer. Due to the nature of the charges, he couldn't be granted bail, and he was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until November 26th.
