Delivery Men’s Strange Story
posted (September 27, 2018)

A trio of delivery men from Vega’s Imports are detained by Cayo Police after some suspected funny money business.

It started with the report of an armed robbery in san Ignacio Town on Tuesday - and from there it got stranger and stranger:…

ACP Joseph Myvette - Head, NCIB
"He was approached by a dark skinned male person wearing a helmet, and dark sunglasses who pointed a weapon towards him and demanded money.  As a result one of his co-workers handed over a little over seven thousand dollars in cash to the person who then made good his escape.  The area was canvassed by police officers, surveillance footage viewed within the area; however, no useful information was had.  Those persons were later stopped at a checkpoint in Roaring Creek where over 15 thousand Belize Dollars was found on them. They were then taken back to San Ignacio for further investigation, however, the manager of the company of the company for whom they work yesterday visited the station and did an audit of the invoices and found out that the 15 thousand dollars was accounted for and a total of three thousand dollars was missing.”

Reporter
"When they were stopped at this checkpoint, was this the Roaring Creek police working in concert with the San Ignacio police?"

ACP Joseph Myvette
"Yes, yes."

Reporter
"So, by all indication they were deliberately concealing that $15,000 - supposedly they had been robbed."

ACP Joseph Myvette
"Ahm, I do not think that the investigation has shown that because the initial report is that one of the employees or one of his co-workers handed over what he had in his possession to the robber."

Up to this morning they remained detained pending investigation.
