posted (October 1, 2018)
The family of missing teen Ontario Gerardo Vasquez is in turmoil tonight after police found body parts out west this weekend, and they are believed to be his. It was ghastly discovery as police found two severed legs in separate locations. Police with a search party found the first leg in the river near the Warrie Head Bridge in Teakettle and then later they found the second leg in the Chia Maya area on the Dream Valley Resort road in Camalote. It is a sinister case and the police are still trying to get to the bottom of it. They can't say for certain if the body parts are Vasquez's but his family was at the Belmopan morgue examining the severed legs. Here is what police have on this case so far.

ACP Joseph Myvette - Head, NCIB
"On Wednesday last, police received a missing person report in relation to one Gerardo Vasquez, 17 year old of Ontario Village, whom his mother reported last seen on Tuesday 25th sometime around 11am. As a result from since Wednesday when the report was made, searches were being conducted on land. However, late Friday evening an information was received just before nightfall that a human leg was seen floating in the river somewhere in the area of Warrie Head, which is near Teakettle Village. As a result of Saturday search teams were gathered and then started searching the river where shortly after 10am one human leg that was cut just above the knee was found in the area of Warrie Head. Further searches in the area of Chia Maya which is downstream where another leg was discovered. Those scenes were processed where the legs were taken to the Western Regional Hospital. I believe the right leg was examine where several small stab wounds were seen on the right leg."

"Is there anything from the parts that were found; the 2 legs that would either point to Gerardo Vasquez or disqualify him?"

ACP Joseph Myvette - Head, NCIB
"At this point in time we will not be able to say whether or not there is any connection. However, these parts that were found will definitely go through the process. They will require DNA testing in order to see if they can be compared to the missing Gerardo Vasquez."

As you heard, Vasquez was last seen on the morning of September 25th. Police continue to look for the other body parts and also continue to look at Vasquez's missing person's case to confirm the connection. DNA tests will be conducted to confirm if the legs are Vasquez's. That usually takes months.
