Pleads Guilty To Shooting At Cops

He shot at police and today, Twenty-six year old Lloyd Parchue pleaded guilty to 2 counts of aggravated assault when he appeared before Justice Adolph Lucas.

Justice Lucas deferred sentencing until Tuesday, October 16th until the Belize Central Prison can submit a report on Parchue's character.

The incident occurred on the October 26th, 2012. Two police officers, corporal Renaldo Bruhier and Constable Carmelo Ack, were on mobile patrol when they received information of a robbery at Moon Grocery Store on Coney Drive. When they arrived they saw three men and they recognized one of them as Parchue. They said Parchue pulled out a firearm from inside the front of his pants and fired 2 shots at them but missed. Ack returned fire and the three men fled into some bushes nearby. Sometime afterwards Parchue and one of his companions were taken out of the mangrove area by the police. Parchue was arrested and charged. Initially, Parchue was charged with attempted murder but the charges were downgraded to aggravated assault.

Parchue was represented by attorney Oscar Selgado while the Crown was represented by Senior Crown Counsel Shanice Lovell. Parchue is currently serving a sentence of 5 years for burglary.
