And while Williams says he felt the judge acted prematurely, the DPP's office is apparently very sensitive about the case. Crown Counsel Javier Chan fired off an angry latter to the Commissioner of Police today saying THE DPP's office is, quote, "utterly displeased with the police handling of the case…we are aggrieved in particular by the misleading information that was provided to the court and the media…" end quote.
That, we take it is the suggestion that the DPP's office was somehow to blame for the case going off the tracks.
The DPP's office points out that despite many re-directions to police matters remain outstanding.
The letter ends with the crown counsel giving the Compol a proper scolding.
Deputy Commissioner Chester Williams wrote back today, saying nicely that no one blamed the DPP's office and says investigators have been doing their best to comply with the directives.
