Well since that story aired, his mom Rockel Romero has been trying to start a sickle cell awareness campaign. On Sunday she organized a balloon release at the Peini sign in Punta Gorda. Her family, friends, PG residents and other kids suffering from the disease attended. Romero says September is sickle cell awareness month.
