And police made another substantial weed find this morning - this one was apparently coming from the north. A mobile patrol in the Sandhill area stopped this Toyota Camry at mile 19 on the Phillip Goldson Highway.
The driver, a taxi man from Corozal, saw the polcie and tried to speed off. He also threw a crocus sack out the car window. But police pursued and caught him and then brought him back to get the sack - which contained 5 parcels of weed.
The driver, Jose Martin Maldonado from Corozal Town was arrested and charged for drug trafficking.
The bundles of weed weighed in at 11.64 pounds or 5.2 kilos.
