A "dry run" - that's what city hall wanted to do with the small local tour operators by pushing them into the Marion Jones Stadium for two weeks. It would be a test to ease the congestion outside the Fort Street Tourism Village.
City Hall had already planned a press conference along with the BTB to announce this dry run, until today when there was a sharp change of direction.
Now this idea has long been proposed by the BTB and when it was floated by the UDP council earlier this year - the local operators shot it down. And at that time, so did the then candidate for Mayor, Bernard Wagner:
But, despite that pre-election promise, it seems the council was seriously proposing this two week dry run. That was until today when the press conference to announce it was abruptly postponed - and the City put the idea on the back burner.
Nontheless, FECTAB has announced a press conference for tomorrow to soundly warn the not to go there. Ever!
