School Shut Down For Sewage Problem
posted (October 5, 2018)
Imagine a school of almost 500 students having to shut down for four days - just because the sewerage system is all messed up. It's happening right now in Dangriga at Sacred Heart Primary School.

Principal Phillipa Hewlett told us she was forced to shut down school simply because all the school's toilets could not flush and many of them were backing up. A filthy mess, and no way to have 480 students and 23 staff.

So, the principal took a decision to call off classes from earlier this week on Wednesday to next week Tuesday. During that time, she has used some donated funds to replace the ancient sewerage system that has been failing for years.

She says that yesterday they were finally able to excavate the old tank and install a new septic tank with a donation of four thousand dollars. They were connecting pipes today, and hope to have everything working in time for school to re-open on Tuesday.

They still need funds to finish up the job, and if you would like to make a donation, you can call the principal at 637-0606, or the school at 522-3907.
