So, you've heard the Cowo family's perspective, as they continue to grieve the loss of the 2 sisters. We also got a chance to speak with police who confirmed that Carlos Martinez has been charged for drunk driving. They said he claims to have blacked out after saving himself:

"He was the only one according to him who managed to break the driver's window. As a result the vehicle was moved from the river where the bodies were seen motionless. They were both found in the luggage or cargo area of his vehicle. Police investigation into this matter have since led to the arrest of Carlos Martinez for driving motor vehicle with alcohol concentration above the prescribed limit, and driving without due care and attention at this point."

"Is it known if he had been out socializing with a minor as well?"

"Yes, that is part of what was investigated by the police. The initial investigation has revealed that sometime after 11:00 pm on Friday night, he visited the Cowo's residence in San Jose Succotz, where he stayed for a while before leaving for Benque Viejo along with both females. And according to him he left Benque Viejo sometime after 4:00 am traveling eastbound when he lost control of the vehicle and ran into the river. If he is eastbound, then the river would be on his left hand side, which would be the opposite side of the road."

"Did he make efforts in the condition he was, to try and also extricate them after he had gotten free?"

"Ah, no. According to him as soon as he was able to get out because of these strong currents, he made his way to land, where, according to him, he passed out or became unconscious for a while. He woke up sometime, shortly after 7:00 AM."

"This was sometime after 8:00 police were called to the area."
Martinez will likely face other charges.
