Spend A Night Like The Homeless
posted (October 16, 2018)
On Wednesday, we told you about World Mental Health Day, which was observed under the theme, "Young People and Mental Health in a Changing World".

The focus this year was on the changes that youths face such as depression and suicidal thoughts. But, the face of mental health in Belize, which most people ignore, are the homeless. They are often the victims of poor mental health. So, the Resource Center, which attempts to cater to them, decided to put Belizeans into their shoes, to experience the hardship that they go through on a daily basis.

As part of a fundraiser, THOSE who participated - including me and my extended family - had to sleep in the Memorial Park on strips of cardboard.

The Resource Center is also holding a banquet this Saturday to fund their initiatives to look after the homeless population in Belize City. Tickets are $75, and the Administrator is hoping that the general public will embrace the event.
