Medina Murder Update

In Friday's news, we told you how an Orange Walk man handed himself into police custody so that he could be questioned about last week Thursday's broad daylight execution of 21 year-old Jose Medina.

Medina was gunned down in broad daylight as he walked a bicycle along with his girlfriend, Lucia Luna. And although it was brazen attack carried out where witnesses could have seen what happened, police aren't having much luck solving it.

Today, they told us that the suspect who handed himself in has been questioned and released, and that Lucia Luna isn't cooperating fully with their investigation:

"Police have recorded statements from several persons. I know that the police have recorded statements from several persons. I know that a vehicle that was alleged that was used as the getaway vehicle was in police custody. I also know that the female who was shot along with him was interviewed. However, she is not cooperating to the fullest with the investigation."

Reporter
"We know that a wanted person turned himself to police on Friday. Has this person been questioned and released?"

ASP Alejandro Cowo
"Yes."

Reporter
"We have hears reports that another one of the suspect, well known in those circles in Orange Walk has reportedly absconded the country or can't be found. Is this is something that you are all following up?"

ASP Alejandro Cowo
"Yes. We heard several names that are being called out and that is what police in Orange Walk are following up at this moment."

Reporter
"Have you all solicited any assistance from your Mexican counterparts to say that certain persons have absconded to that side of the border?"

ASP Alejandro Cowo
"We have constant communication with them."
