Police haven’t established a motive for Kevin Thomas’ murder as yet. But fortunately police have the 18 year old suspected shooter, Shadron Deshawn Gillett under police guard at the hospital as he recovers. The teenager was shot by a special constable as he tried to flee the scene. Police say he is expected to becharged with murder when he is released.

"We have an update in reference of the shooting of Mr. Kevin Thomas which occurred on Monday night. Unfortunately, on yesterday's date at about 10:40, he succumbed to his injuries whilst receiving treatment at the KHMH. The person that was suspected to be involved in the shooting, he is still admitted at the hospital and then on his release, police will determine whether or not if any charges will be levied against him. Up to now we have not established a motive, unfortunately the investigators have not had an opportunity to speak to the deceased because of his condition, however we managed to interview persons on the area where the police has gotten enough information and I believe that after this person is released from the hospital, we just have to follow our procedures and after charges will be levied on him."
Thomas was shot close to home on Monday night - as he was buying at a neighborhood store near the Yabra Bridge.
