If you're a follower of Belizean music and/or Belizean literature, you'll definitely recognize the names of Florencio Mes, Myrna Manzanarez and Gerald "Lord" Rhaburn.
These three distinguished Belizean artists have left an indelible mark on local culture, and today, the Deputy Prime Minister, Patrick Faber, and NICH President Sapnah Budrani, held an award ceremony for them at the Museum of Belize.
It's called the "Artist Emeritus" award, and today, these 3 artists were the first to be recognized by the Government. Deputy Prime Minister Patrick Faber described to the press why they decided to honor them today:
As you heard, all 3 recipients of the Artist Emeritus Award will be given a monthly stipend of $500.
