FBI Brought in To Investigate American’s Death
posted (October 22, 2018)
Police say that they aren't quite sure what caused the death of Elizabeth Rigdon in Corozal - and they've called in the FBI to help. The 49 year old American was found dead 10 days ago, afloat in a pool in the Consejo area of Corozal. The only other person at the property was her husband, Robley Smith Rigdon. He told police they had been drinking and he fell asleep. When he woke up, he found her nude in the pool where she had apparently drowned.

Initially, Police said it looked like a drowning with no signs of violence, but tonight they are looking deeper. Here's why:...

ACP Joseph Myvette - Head of NCIB
"The doctors concluded that she died by asphyxiation by drowning as well as multiple trauma incidental death."

Reporter
"Where on her body did you find...?"

ACP Joseph Myvette - Head of NCIB
"It is in the area of her left and right shoulder."

Reporter
"That's not something consistent to a drowning incident."

ACP Joseph Myvette - Head of NCIB
"Not according to the post mortem examination."

Reporter
"Are you suspecting then her husband, or if he is going to be re-questioned in relation to that?"

ACP Joseph Myvette - Head of NCIB
"Certainly he was questioned in relation to this investigation. We have also solicited and have the participation of the FBI as a part of this investigation which is ongoing."

The FBI has been in country for a few days. The couple bought a property in Consejo and came here in May.
