Honouring Tourism’s Finest

The Belize Tourism Board held its 16th National Tourism Awards Gala Event at Caribbean Motors in Belize City on Saturday.

It's the annual event where the BTB recognizes and awards its tourism industry partners.

Top awards went to:

Nikita Young, an employee of Chabil Mar, who was awarded for being the most outstanding frontiline personnel. The Hospitality award went to the Belize Chocolate Company from San Pedro. The Lodge at Chaa Creek, in Cayo, was chosen as the Hotel of the Year.

For the Small Accommodation of the Year, BTB chose Cayo Espanto from San Pedro. The Tour Guide of the year went to Carlos Hernandez, from Ian Anderson's Cave Branch.

Chukka Belize, from Belize City, was chosen as the Tour Operator of the Year, while the Grove House by Chef Adan, on the Hummingbird Highway, was chosen as the Restaurant of the Year. The Caye Caulker Lobster Festival was chosen as The Festival of the Year, an St. Herman's Blue Hole National Park, in Belmopan, was chosen as the Tourism Site of the Year.

The Top Performing Hotel Award went to Gran Caribe in San Pedro, and the Tour Guide Association of the Year award went to the San Pedro Tourist Guide Association.

For the Minister's Award, Ilsa Villanueva from Placencia Village was chosen, and the Lifetime Achievement Award went to Ian and Ella Anderson of Ian Anderson's Cave Branch.
