Finding Felina’s Killers
posted (October 25, 2018)

Tonight police are close to making an arrest in the strange murder of Felina James.

She went missing 2 weeks ago - and turned up dead in an area off the Coastal Road a week later.  Someone slashed her throat, and a post-mortem confirmed that she died from a chop wound to the back of the neck. A few days before her body was discovered, the cops found several of her personal ID's in Belmopan.

Since then, the investigators have had a tough time trying to piece together her last moments alive. But, they got a tip earlier this week that her red Kia Sorento was at a chop shop in the Stann Creek District. The cops responded, and they did find remnants of such a vehicle, but because there was not much of it remaining, they cannot yet confirm that it is indeed James' vehicle.

Today, police gave the press a brief update:

ASP Alejandro Cowo - OC, CIB Belize City
"Police is still conducting investigations, following several leads, and on Tuesday evening, Belize City police visited Mile 17 on Valley Road, Stann Creek, where they found remnants of a vehicle, a red Kia. The vehicle was already dismantled and cut up in pieces, and it was also burnt. What the police were able to locate from that vehicle was only the 4 doors and part of the front where the engine was missing likewise. We suspect that probably, it is the same vehicle because of the color and because of the brand. But, yet, we are in the process of bringing the vehicle from that area to Belize City, and we will requesting the assistance of Customs Department, so that they can assist us to bring back the VIN number."

Daniel Ortiz
"Is there any indication, or anything to assist police to maybe determine when this particular vehicle was destroyed."

ASP Alejandro Cowo
"Yes, we know when the vehicle was taken there, and by a male person,  but it is part of the investigation that cannot tell you at this moment."

And though police did not want to say more, we are told an arrest is could be coming soon.
