Three Months Later, Cops Closing In On Lamont’s Killer

And while that is not established as a murder or wrongful death - police are closing in on the murderer in the case of another American, Lamont Lipka.  

Lipka, the owner of Tropicana Restaurant and Bar in San Pedro Town was killed on May 13th in San Pedro Town.  

The 49 year-old Texas native was killed inside his business place by a gunman who had no regard for the fact that there were many eyewitnesses around. 

At the time of the attack, customers enjoying their evening meal and drinks, but the gunman went right up to Lipka, who was standing behind the cash register, and that assailant shot him 7 times, fatally injuring him.

Today, 5 months later, police announced that they have the weapon which was used to gun him down. Here's what the head of CIB in Belize City had to say about this latest development in their investigations:

"Mr. Lipka passed away after he was shot in the month of May. The investigators are still conducting investigations are still conducting investigations, and have detained several persons. I know that shortly after his death, a firearm was found in San Pedro. That firearm was taken to the forensic lab, where it was tested with the expended shells that were found at the scene. We were informed that the shells found at the scene is that of that same firearm that was found in San Pedro. So, we're following up on the persons who were questioned on that date, and they will be re-interviewed again to see what information we can get from them."

Police say that the suspects who were initially questioned about Lipka's murder will have a second round of questions to answer to investigators.
