Another Armed Assault At TKO Farms
posted (October 25, 2018)

A Cayo man had very scary encounter yesterday when he came in contact with 4 armed masked men who assaulted him at his worksite at the TKO Farms in Teakettle Village.

Manuel Gomez was doing his chores yesterday near the gate when he was accosted by these armed individuals demanding that he open the gate of the farm. It's a strange incident with more questions than answers, and today, police shared some of the details with us:

ACP Joseph Myvette - Head, NCIB
"Police responded yesterday morning, sometime around 9 a.m. to the TKO farms in the Teakettle Village area, where it was reported to them by one Manuel Gomez that while he was outside of the gate, cleaning the area, he was approached by 4 armed male persons who demanded that he open the gate. As a result, he was injured by one of those persons, by the use of a firearm during the process. However, during that process, according to him, a vehicle was coming which caused the assailants to flee the area. Our investigation has shown though, that the farm is a private area, however, a road runs through the farm that connects to another community, and that the road was used by several persons. However, the new owner of the area has, some 3 weeks aback, erected a barrier preventing those from using the road, as it is a private property. So, we conclude from the investigation that that is the gate or the barrier in question that they requested to be removed. As a result, the owners were spoken to. Well, the reason they erected the barrier there is that it is a private property, and it is for their own safety that the barrier was erected there."

"Did the individual indicate if he was able to identify, or did he provide an identification or a description of the person who assaulted him with the firearm."

ACP Joseph Myvette
"According to him, they were all fully clothed in military fatigues, and they were masked, so he was not able to identify any of them."

This is the same farm where the manager came under gunfire last week, from someone who was most likely trying to rob him of the farm's employee payroll.
