Justice Colin Williams has convicted 3 men for the June 2012 murder of Joseph Myers. They are Andy Forbes, Clinton Harris and William Vasquez, and tonight, they are in jail awaiting a sentencing hearing.
We've told you about their trial without jury which started a month ago on September 25th. Prosecutor Killeru Awich outlined the case where in June of 2012, several friends, including Joseph Myers, were all hanging out on the verandah of the Living Hope Preparatory School, on Maskall Street in Belize City.
They were caught completely off-guard by 3 gunmen who crept up from behind the school building and opened fire on the group. 4 persons were injured, and Myers was the only one who died. The other victims testified and and identified Forbes, Harris and Vasquez as the shooters.
In their defense, both Forbes and Vasquez testified and denied that they committed offense. Harris chose to remain silent.
After careful consideration, Justice Williams found all 3 men guilty. He has scheduled their sentencing hearing for December 7th, when he will also hear their mitigation plea.
Harris and Vasquez were represented by attorney Simeon Sampson, while Forbes was represented by attorney Nigel Ebanks.
