Stole A Bike, Fined 10x The Value
posted (October 30, 2018)
He stole his sister's friend's bicycle, and tonight, 35 year-old Kenrick Hendricks will have to pay a huge fine for it, and he still has to buy back a replacement bike.

Last Friday, at around 2:00, Candy Gabourel was at her home on Fairweather Street in Belize City when she heard someone trying to enter her gate. She got up to go check who that was, and saw Henricks riding off with her bike. She checked with her friend, Kimberly Hendricks, who is Kenrick's sister. She asked Kimberly if she had given Kenrick permission to use the bike, and when his sister said that she didn't, Gabourel reported him to the police for stealing her bike.

Kenrick Hendricks was arrested and charged with theft, and he was arraigned today before Magistrate Emmerson Banner. He wasted no time, and pleaded guilty to the offense. But, he lied to the judge and said that he was a first-time offender, and when the court checked, it showed that he had been to court on multiple occasions. He even had previous convictions for theft and burglary on his rap sheet.

As a result, Magistrate Banner sentenced him to pay a huge fine of $1,500 - which is ten times the value of the bike. He must also pay the victim a separate $150 to replace her stolen bike, and he must pay the fine by November 30th, or he will spend 1 and a half years in jail.
