Day one after the Fabers Road tragedy – how is the family holding up? Well, when we went to visit them today, they were all sitting together, discussing funeral arrangements and celebrating the lives of their lost loved ones – their happy 5 year old prince, little Samir and his grandmother Louise Young. It is hard to even think to muster a laugh or crack a joke during this time but that is how the family is coping with this reality. But they also used this time to reflect on yesterday's horrific attack and to figure out how Samuel August could actually carry out such an unthinkable act. We also asked Young's cousin, Carolyn Welch about the facebook post August put up after the incident and about the temporary fix to her home. Here are her comments.

"I think we have accepted the fact of what happened and like everything else, we believe that god has a plan because now I am reflecting that if Britney and I need to say thank to her even though she is ill, if Britney had not diverted his attention, my mom probably would have been in a serious position also. There are still hurting that it had to happen this way but we have basically accepted what has happened, it goes not justify his actions, even though he's claiming insanity or depression or whatever the case may be."

"He put a post while in the hospital saying that he apologizes and that he really was depressed and he loves his kids and he would never do anything to harm them. What is your initial response to that post?"
Carolyn Welch
"I think he put that up to get gain sympathy from the public because if he had loved his kids, he would have been taking care of them from the get go and we wouldn't have come to this conclusion. He needs to understand that he killed his own child and the person who cared most deeply for that child you know. So he puts that picture up to gain the sympathy of the public, alright? Because it could have been done in a different way, we did not deny him visitation. He was able to come, he was able to sit with those kids, he was able to talk to those kids as long as he wanted you know. So whatever he did, I believe it was intentional."

"So that's the emotional element of this entire ordeal, now to your home, the structure that you have here. The city council helped you at least patch up the opening there."

"Yes, they made it livable for last night. I don't know if it temporary or temporary permanent or if there will be a second phase where they will be assisting us to get back the permanency so that the children can get back into their home, to their rooms."

"Yes, it was covered for the night."
As we told you, the root cause of August's explosive and murderous rampage is over the custody of his kids. But the family says there is no way he could have taken care of them in the first place and that the kids were just fine with Young.
Carolyn Welch
"Whenever they would spend the holiday with him, he was never around, he would throw the kids on the the aunt who had to go to the market, who had those little babies begging everyone for a dollar or a shilling. The family members have been out at the market, they have seen them on several occasions and that was what my sister didn't like, that was why she fought to have them to give them stability. Those children were loved."
There are also facebook posts from August before the incident threatening the family. He posted a day before the incident "No more fight in me fam, I'm done, some people gonna die" This is from his facebook page under the name Trey Wills.
