Tonight, a 6 year-old is critical after she was knocked down yesterday in Corozal Town.

Yesterday the child was with her mother trying to cross the street when a driver hit them in her SUV. The head of the National Criminal Investigations Branch told us more:

ACP Joseph Myvette - Head, NCIB
"On yesterday's date, Corozal police was called to an area on 7th Avenue, where 1 Abby Casanova reported to them that while she was traveling in her Ford Escape vehicle from College Road, she turned left unto 7th Avenue, and in the process, one Devony Palacio, along with her 6 year-old daughter, Destiny Williams, was crossing 7th Avenue, and were accidentally knocked down by Miss Casanova. Both received varying degrees of injuries, and both were hospitalized. The 6 year-old child, Destiny Williams, is in a critical condition at the Northern Regional Hospital. Statements were recorded from the driver, Miss Casanova, and she was served with a notice of intended prosecution, whilst the investigation is still ongoing."

Daniel Ortiz
"What is her explanation?"

ACP Joseph Myvette
"Well, she turned off College Road, and turned left unto 7th Avenue, heading north, and those persons were crossing 7th Avenue, at the point of the accident. There is a pedestrian cross a few feet away from where they were knocked down."

As you heard, Abby Casanova may be police prosecution for this traffic accident. As police noted, the accident happened a few feet from the pedestrian crosswalk.
