The Tyranny of Sexual Harassment
posted (November 7, 2018)
If you're a Belizean woman, like me, you know all too well about the culture of catcalling. Most days, we're not able to walk down to the corner store without having at least one man on the street making unwelcome comments of a sexual nature, or make unwanted sexual advances.

It's sexual harassment, but it's not the only kind, and so students from UB in Belmopan participated in a forum to discuss the topic under the theme "Sexual Harassment and Me". The purpose is to raise awareness about this form of gender-based violence, and it was coordinated by the organization known as "Resistance through Education in Transition". RET's Youth Leadership Ambassador's Network collaborated with the UB student government to explore this topic, and 7News stopped by to find out a little more about sexual harassment.

Here's what the RET's Communications Intern had to say about the forum:

RET International is a humanitarian organization with headquarters in Geneva, and it has been in operation in Belize since 2015, through funding from the US Government's CARSI programme.
